Photobomb Fun
Every so often, I suggest an idea to a couple that catches them completely off guard.
"Wait, what exactly is that?"
It's called a Wedding Photobomb, and it has become one of the most memorable and entertaining moments at many of the weddings I photograph across the North East.
Before you picture someone pulling silly faces in the background of your ceremony photos, that's not what I mean at all.
This is a fast-paced, fun-filled photo experience that gets everyone involved and creates some of the most natural images of the entire day. For many of my couples, it's one of the highlights of their wedding reception.
If you're searching for a wedding photographer in Newcastle, Durham, Northumberland or anywhere in the North East and want photographs that feel authentic, energetic and full of personality, you'll probably love this idea.
So, What Is a Wedding Photobomb?
Think of it as a rapid-fire guest photo session set to music.
The perfect time for it is usually after the cake cutting and just before the first dance, when guests are relaxed, drinks are in hand, and the atmosphere is building for the evening celebrations.
Here's how it works:
You and your partner take a seat in the centre of the dance floor.
The DJ plays a single song (Gangnam Style by PSY) always goes down well and helps people get into the fun of it.
During that song, guests take turns rushing onto the dance floor to have their photo taken with you.
Family members, best friends, colleagues, neighbours, university mates, children and grandparents all get involved.
You stay seated while everyone comes to you, and I capture the laughter, hugs, reactions and chaos as it unfolds naturally.
In just a few minutes, you'll have an incredible collection of guest photographs without spending half the evening posing.

Why Couples Love It So Much
One concern I hear all the time from couples is:
"What if we don't get a photo with everyone?"
It's a genuine worry because wedding days move incredibly quickly.
Between the ceremony, speeches, food and dancing, there are often guests you barely get a chance to speak to.
The photobomb solves that problem beautifully.
Rather than spending time hunting people down for individual photos, your guests come directly to you.
The result is a huge collection of photographs featuring the people who matter most, all captured in a fun and relaxed way.

It Fits Seamlessly Into Your Evening
One of the biggest advantages is that it doesn't interrupt the flow of the day.
There's no lengthy group photo list.
No gathering guests from different parts of the venue.
No standing around waiting for your turn.
Instead, it becomes part of the entertainment.
The music is loud, guests are cheering, people are laughing, and the energy naturally leads into the first dance and evening celebrations.
For couples who want wedding photography to feel spontaneous rather than heavily directed, it's the perfect fit.

What Makes a Wedding Photobomb So Popular?
A wedding photobomb gives you:
Dozens of guest photos in just a few minutes
A relaxed alternative to additional formal group shots
Genuine laughter and natural interactions
A fun shared experience for your guests
Photos with people you may otherwise miss during the day
A memorable reception moment everyone talks about afterwards
Images full of personality, energy and emotion
Most importantly, it creates photographs that feel real.
